Portfolio/showcase design mockup
Today I started working on a design for my portfolio page. In case you’re wondering, no I do not have an online portfolio yet. I want to create one because I really enjoy making websites and messing around with graphics software, but I never really get the chance to show it off on the Web. I also think I’ll be more willing to experiment if I can immediately dump the result in a showcase.
So here it is, the first mockup!

I tried to keep the look clean and simple so it won’t absorb attention away from the content. On the other hand I tried to avoid the ultra-clean, clinical look by adding a few simple torn and sketchy effects.
As you can see there will be four sections: Print, Web, Illustration and Self (that would be me). Each have their own colour. This colour will be reused in the underlined caption and the subtle background, which should make it easier for the visitor to navigate the page.
I am quite pleased with how it looks at the moment, but it’s definitely not finished. Any ideas and other sorts of feedback are more than welcome!
PS: In case you’re curious about the fonts, I used Fertigo (very free) and Chic Decay (free for this personal purpose).
