The theme looks nice. I'd make my own theme for my blog if I had the time. Unfortunately, I've kind of lost the design bug (I was big back when I had a simple HTML site), so I rely on themes other people make, with a few of my own tweaks.

The meta-data area does seem a bit empty indeed, I agree. I don't consider it a huge problem. It gives you a bit of peace of mind while reading the content. By the way, what additional WordPress content is suitable for putting there?

The sidebar in the comments area fills up with linkbacks as they come in (you can see this well <a href="http://sparepencil.com/archives/2007/06/03/wordpress-and-the-cookies/#comments" rel="nofollow">in an older post</a>). Not all posts receive these, so it stays a bit empty as well. Not really disturbing either, I personally think.

As for the login link... I think I will turn it into an icon (you guys are really onto the details...).

The footer is a bit out of the ordinary, but I like it. Thanks, Kovacs, for backing me up.

And Alan, I will consider changing the header size... golden ratio and stuff. :P

Ah Alan... Always the critic :P And yes, vertically align the "Login" link is what I meant (I think). I always get my words mixed up when it comes to vertical and horizontal. And on second thoughts, it might look better in the center of the sidebar...

I disagree about the footer though. To me it looks fine... I guess it could look a little out of place because it is a different color from the content side of the layout though.

Beautiful. It's a faint representation of a site I visited a few weeks back. I'm going to have to hunt for the link again.

This is an example of fine minimalism, with nice use of colors. Black and blue are favorite colors of mine. :D I'm liking the font choice on the comment form, and the links are awesome too, despite their simplicity.

Now for some trash talk. :P

The footer gradient below does not fit... at all. If you want to gradient that area, add a full-width footer area for it to blend into (like the top bar). Blending into the background and ending the layout prematurely like this doesn't make make the footer area look good at all. You should do something to change that.

Make the header a bit bigger in height. I don't mind the cool cut-off graphics, but its overall height is not of a harmonic size (look up the rule of thirds or the golden ratio). Up its height a bit more.

When you view a post, its metadata sidebar on the right seems a bit empty. Perhaps some supportive sentences may make it more useful?

Overall, I give a thumbs up. :D

PS: Don't forget to re-align the "Login" text at the bottom, use vertical-align: middle or change the login link into an icon.

It's very nice. Simple but great. Problem I have with making themes like this, is that when I have designed them in Photoshop I think they are too simple and scrap them, claiming they are unoriginal. But when I see someone else with them I always think they are nice... Never satisfied with my own work :(

Only tip: Horizontally align the "Login" link with the XHTML and CSS :P Haha. Not a real problem, but small things like that really annoy me
