Blog cleanup

Update: The reconstruction is almost completed. Most of the planned changes have been made. I am still open to any suggestions or comments, so feel free to share them if you have any.

Welcome to SparePencil, the website of infrequent updates and meaningless content.

Dear readers, I’ve had enough of this site. I am sure you’ll agree that it is no fun to come here every day (I should rather say week or month) just to find out that the most recent post is still the same as last time and the time before and the time before that (which was probably more than a month ago). To make things even worse, there is no new content.
When there is a new post, you’re often disappointed by the fact that it is another random one or has little meaning whatsoever.

Well, I decided it was time to do something about that.
The first step in this ‘blog cleanup’ will be to erase any irrelevant content. This includes empty pages and most of my posts.
The second step will be to reorganise the remaining content until it makes sense. This step will be combined with the third step, which is to define a new structure for the website (pages, subpages, categories, etc.).
The final step is to create a new look for the site. This is not so important, but I enjoy designing and templating so it will be inevitable.

A central topic in all of these steps is ‘the purpose’ of the renewed website. I am not sure what it will be exactly, but the general idea is development (particularly web development).

In a few weeks time, you’ll be looking at a one-page website instead of this blog. This means that I am busy working on the cleanup but that it is too embarrassing to do it in front of visitors.
For now, I think it would be great to get some feedback on what to keep, what to add and also what to change. More specific ideas for ‘the purpose’ of the renewed website are also very welcome.
