Many people try to learn C/C++ "the easy way" and ignore the most important thing about the two languages. Memory management. If you're going to learn it, learn it the right way. Long time no see! I'm still a big fan of PHP, but Ruby and Rails are things I've been trying to pick up; they look like fun, and rapid development is never a bad thing. I plan on learning this language in college. Python is a powerful language, especially for graphics. Almost all 3D rendering and visualization software utilize Python in some sort of way because of its potential and flexibility.
